Manchester City put on a scintillating display against Crystal Palace, winning 6-2 at the Etihad Stadium in a dominant performance that saw them move towards the top of the Premier League table. Pep Guardiola's side started the game on the front foot and never looked back as they put six past a helpless Crystal Palace side.
Manchester City started the game brightly, dominating possession and creating chances right from the outset. It didn't take long for their early dominance to pay off, as Gabriel Jesus scored the opening goal in the 11th minute, latching on to a clever pass from Kevin De Bruyne before firing past Wayne Hennessey in the Palace goal.
Just two minutes later, City doubled their advantage, with Raheem Sterling finishing off a well-worked team move with a well-placed shot that left the Palace keeper with no chance. The home side continued to push forward, and it was no surprise when they added a third goal in the 30th minute, with a stunning goal from Leroy Sane.
Palace did manage to pull one back before half-time, with Luka Milivojevic scoring from the penalty spot after Wilfried Zaha had been fouled in the box. The visitors began to look more dangerous as the second half got underway, and they managed to pull another goal back through Max Meyer in the 65th minute, giving them a glimmer of hope.
However, any hope of a comeback was soon extinguished as City hit back with three more goals in the final 20 minutes of the game. Sergio Aguero came off the bench to score twice, with his first goal coming from the penalty spot and his second a clinical finish after being set up by Sterling.
The scoring was completed by substitute Fabian Delph, who picked up the ball deep in his own half before running the length of the field and firing a low shot past Hennessey to cap off an unforgettable display from the home side.
The win moves City up to second place in the Premier League table, just two points behind leaders Liverpool.
